Clicking the random map allows you to change the color of the map and change the terrain that you will play on or you can let the game choose a random map or let the game generate one. Some maps also give XP bonuses. (random and generated maps also give XP bonuses.)

The modes change the whole objective of the game entirely from killing your enemies to just getting more damage than your opponents.
